APPROPRIATING FUNDS FOR THE OFFICE OF THE SECRETARY, DEPARTMENT OF TOURISM


WHEREAS, the Department of Tourism is now engaged in making the physical and other preparations for the various projects for the acceleration of tourism in July 1974, but the said Department has no funds in its current appropriation for the purpose;


NOW, THEREFORE, I, FERDINAND E, MARCOS, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by the Constitution, in order to ensure the successful production of the Miss Universe Beauty Pageant of 1974 in this country in July 1974, do hereby decree and order:


Section 1. To carry out the provisions of this decree, the sum of Nine Million (P9,000,000.00) Pesos or so much thereof as may be necessary is hereby appropriated out of the General Fund in the National Treasury not otherwise appropriated.


Section 2. The Secretary of Tourism shall allot and budget the said appropriation under the provision of Section 7-I (4) of Commonwealth Act No. 246, as amended, subject to the usual government accounting and auditing rules and regulations.


Section 3. Any amount that may have been advanced by the Department of Tourism for the Miss Universe Beauty Pageant shall be reimbursed from this appropriation.


Section 4. This decree shall take effect immediately.


Done in the City of Manila, this 7th day of May, in the year of Our Lord, nineteen hundred and seventy-four.
