EXECUTIVE ORDER NO. 214 December 9, 1994

ESTABLISHING THE PRESIDENTIAL AWARDS FOR THE CLEANEST AND GREENEST LOCAL GOVERNMENT UNITS OF THE PHILIPPINES

WHEREAS, the National Committee on the Search for the Cleanest and Greenest Local Government Units of the Philippines was created under Memorandum Order No. 187, series of 1993;

WHEREAS, the Search is an effective mechanism for inculcating in the minds of the Filipinos the values of discipline, cooperation, resourcefulness, self-reliance, cleanliness, and environmental awareness;

WHEREAS, there is a need to formally establish the Presidential Awards for the Cleanest and Greenest Local Government Units of the Philippines;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, FIDEL V. RAMOS, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby order:

Sec. 1. Creation of the Awards. - The following Presidential Awards are hereby created:

•Cleanest and Greenest Municipalities of the Philippines

Category A: First to Third Class Municipalities Cluster

Category B: Fourth to Sixth Class Municipalities Cluster

•Cleanest and Greenest Cities of the Philippines

Category A: Highly Urbanized Cities Cluster

Category B: Component Cities Cluster

•Cleanest and Greenest Province of the Philippines

Sec. 2. Selection of Awardees. - The parameters to be used in selecting the Presidential Awardees shall be determined by the National Search Committee.

Sec. 3. Awards and Prizes. - The Presidential Awards shall be conferred to each national awardee as indicated in Section 1 hereof, through the local chief executive concerned, in the form of a Presidential Trophy and a Cash Prize of not less than One Million Pesos (P 1,000,000.00) for livelihood projects, to be sourced from the President's Social Fund.

Likewise, each of the national finalists representing the regional winners for the five (5) categories shall be conferred a Presidential Plaque of Commendation.

Sec. 4. Design Specifications. - The National Historical Institute of the Presidential Commission on Culture and the Arts shall prescribe the design specifications of the Presidential Trophy and Presidential Plaque of Commendation.

Sec. 5. Effectivity. - This Executive Order shall take effect immediately.
